Antole France has rightly remarked,” Until one has loved an animal ,a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” And in my case ,Lily has gifted me every reason to believe in the essence of this wonderful quotation
It was just another repetitous hour of the day when I was scrolling down the Instagram feeds, when all of a sudden I came across a post . It was a post by Desiwoof with an announcement of an upcoming event , “an adoption camp”. In no time , I called up the contact number provided along with the post. Well, if you wish ,you can trust me on what I am going to say next.
I had no plans of adopting a pet at that moment as I was juggling with several issues.
However, I called on this number only to enquire if they had any plans to come to Raipur so that I could volunteer in any possible manner in this noble cause . I don’t remember what conversation we had, but finally we hung up the call with the plan that I will be adopting a pet at the camp. Within few minutes after the conversation, I received several pictures of adorable pets who were to be brought at the adoption camp. Then, I saw one tagged message. “Please adopt her. She needs a home immediately.” Trust me ,there was no looking back after that.
On 14th February 2022 I reached this adoption camp . Being at the camp was a great experience in itself. I personally feel that 14 February is apparently hyped and dedicated to typical kind of lovers( not that I am against them, still). But this camp and the people over there were completely different. Lovers ? Yes , they were! True and passionate animal lovers . In the midst of hashtags, filters and materialistic world, I met all these angels, who had left no stone unturned to unite these super cute adorable puppies with their forever home and beloved pet parents.
This camp was enough in itself to keep me mesmerized and then I meet Shruti . It would be no exaggeration to call her godmother of Lily. And finally there was this sweetest moment. Shruti gave Lily in my lap and something in my heart melted giving away warmth and contentment.
I adopted Lily. I can proudly say I am Lily’s mum. Right now , when I am writing this blog, she is giving me weird looks because she is clueless about what she has gifted to me. A child to a mother, a completeness to the family and everlasting joyful (okay, sometimes irritating) screams to every corner of my house.
