STORY OF ADITYA NAG: A FIERCE RESCUER

STORY OF ADITYA NAG: A FIERCE RESCUER

In this selfish world, where people are hesitant to spend a penny of their own to help a stranger, individuals like Aditya, are an inspiration to everyone in this world. His selfless heart works day and night to help animals in distress. We couldn’t be more proud! Team Desiwoof is here with an exclusive interview with Aditya to give you a glimpse into his life and journey.

So, Aditya, can you please introduce yourself to our readers? How did your journey begin?

So, my name is Aditya, I am 24 years old. I began rescuing animals when I was 16 years olds, saving some bucks from my pocket money, and helping homeless animals on the streets. We started handling minor cases of community animals living on the streets. The sight of them suffering from no help whatsoever was too much for me to bear. You cannot always wait for others to come in and step up!

What gives you the motivation to work daily?

It’s been 8 years since I began my rescue journey. Now I work full-time for animals. It’s my sole purpose in life. I want to learn as much as I can to save as many animals as possible. I suffer from hypertension and, I genuinely feel that rescuing animals is something that helps me calm myself. I started my journey with small cases treating community animals. And, today, I am also a certified wildlife rescuer, who has dealt with thousands of cases both in the community and in the wild. It is truly a learning process to get to the point, I am today. And, I am so grateful for that!

How is every day like for you? Can you please describe a day in the life of Aditya?

(Chuckles a little)

I usually get about 12-20 calls every day. These cases include both major and minor ones. My day usually begins at 8:30 in the morning and ends at 10:30 at night. I work for over 12 hours every day. People often ask me don’t you get tired or something? But, let me tell you at the end of a long exhausting day, I sleep very well. And it is because I love my work with all my heart.

You deal with so many cases every day, how do you cover all the expenses?

As an independent rescuer, I pay for most of the aid required by the animals. Sometimes, I do end up getting some external help. But that isn’t as often as people think. My monthly expenses are around 5,000-10,000, depending on the number of cases and their severity. To be very honest, somedays I don’t even have a penny in my pocket. But, it’s been 8 years and, that has never stopped me from helping an innocent soul in need and, it never will.

What is your ultimate aim in life?

So, I completed my diploma in mechanical engineering three years back. But, rescuing and helping animals is my calling. So, currently, I am preparing for medical entrance exams to take one step forward towards my aim of becoming a veterinarian. Right now, I nurse injured animals at my home mostly. I want to conduct more sterilization and vaccine campaigns. I dream to open my own animal shelter with an attached hospital upgraded with all the latest techniques and equipment. So, that every animal can receive the top treatment that they deserve.

Today, you are here to raise funds for a noble cause on our platform. Can you please tell our readers about the utilization of that?

So, the amount raised will solely be used for medicines, enclosures, and urgent surgeries for injured animals

Rescued animals require an urgent assistant. Firstly, you need proper housing facilities to avoid bedsores or any other type of infection. A proper environment ensures fast healing of the animals. I often get some urgent cases where we need to operate animals without wasting a minute. But, due to a lack of funds, it can take time, and we may lose an animal life that could have been saved.

Why should the people support you? What is your message to all the readers out there?

First of all, You are not helping me. You are helping an innocent, voiceless animal in need. You are saving an animal’s life with every small contribution you make. Nothing feels more gratifying than pulling an animal from hell and giving it a new life. I am just their messenger conveying their message to you.

To people out there, all I want to say is that you have to be the change you want to see in this world! This is a famous saying you must have heard before and I will always stand by it.

People taunted my parents too. But, I remember one day, my father’s boss called him out of the blue and appreciated all the work I do. And that made my dad so proud. I did not even know his boss before that day. So, if you are selfless and have that compassion and empathy within your heart, word travels.

Start by taking small steps, feed animals in your locality, pet them, provide first aid if you can. Every small act of kindness from your side can light up an animal’s day beyond your expectations. And, if you ever see any animal in distress, you can always reach out to me.

Aditya’s compassion and hard work towards animals are exemplary. His story is heartwarming and inspiring in every way possible! This article might not be enough to cover it all. But, we tried our best. All on his own, he is fighting like a true hero. And, a little support from your side can help him light up hundreds of animal lives. Desiwoof salutes Aditya and all the other rescuers working relentlessly to protect and conserve animal lives.
